Where to start.

The best time to start this process is immediately! There is a 60 day waiting period in between appeals, and all appeals must be completed within this time. 

The steps below are for someone who is interested in doing the initial application for SSDI/ SSI on their own, online. If you would like to apply on your own, in person please visit this website. If you would like help in person, please schedule a time to meet with one of our Advocates to start the process. 

Whatever choice you make, we highly recommend talking to one of our Advocates before submitting your application.

How to apply for SSDI/SSI online:

1. Visit the SSA Online Application Page at  https://www.ssa.gov/applyfordisability/ 
2. Gather the information you will need for applying. A checklist is provided at  https://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10550.pdf or you can find the information in the FAQ section of the link above. 
3. Visit https://secure.ssa.gov/iClaim/dib and fill out the application
